Arthur L. Marriott QC is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong. Mr. Marriott was one of the first two solicitors ever to be honoured as Queen’s Counsel. He has extensive experience as counsel in all forms of international commercial arbitration & mediation throughout the world, including oil and gas, civil engineering, construction, technology and joint venture disputes.

He is a member of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), a member of the board of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), a member of the board of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Chartered Arbitrator.

He was a principal proponent of the reform of English legislation governing arbitration, which resulted in the passage of the Arbitration Act 1996. Mr. Marriott has published and spoken widely on the subjects of international arbitration and ADR. He is the co-author of ADR Principles and Practice (First Edition Sweet & Maxwell 1993, Second Edition 1999), and a co-editor of, and author in, the Handbook of Arbitration Practice (3d ed. 1997 Sweet & Maxwell).

Mr. Marriott also represents clients in complex commercial litigation in the English courts. He has been appointed as a Recorder and Deputy High Court Judge, again one of the first two solicitors ever to attain that position. He is also a President of Mental Health Review Tribunals. joint author with his partner Bob Bruce, former General Counsel of the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, of a paper commissioned by the World Bank on ADR in the international telecommunication business
