Thirty years experience practising from chambers at 1 Brick Court, Temple, principally in defamation work. From 1980, until I was appointed Q.C. in 1989, I was retained by the BBC as their junior counsel for the Corporation’s libel work. During the two years that I was in practice as a Q.C. I had, amongst other cases, cases in Singapore for the then Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, and in London for Sarah Keays. As a Circuit Judge I had seven years experience in the Crown Court, with part-time sittings as a Deputy High Court Judge at the Royal Courts of Justice doing defamation work. At Central London County Court I had experience of a wide variety of civil cases, including a substantial number of false imprisonment and malicious prosecution cases. Since choosing to retire from the Circuit Bench in 2001, I have sat part-time as a Deputy High Court Judge. Now a qualified Mediator and a member of ADR Chambers specialist media group, I am focused on Mediation with a particular interest in media law. Whilst aiming my Mediation practice at media law, I am quite happy to undertake a wide range of other areas of work where my Mediation skills can be used to help parties.
