Jane has extensive recent experience in the resolution of high value claims, in particular in the fields of personal injury, clinical negligence and discrimination law. She has been in practice since 1983 and has experience across the field of civil law. She has always acted for both Claimants and Defendants/Respondents and therefore has a knowledge and understanding of the concerns and priorities of parties on both sides of the litigation fence. She has been a part-time employment tribunal chairman since 2000, where she has adjudicated upon claims across the employment law spectrum, including high value discrimination claims. She has always assisted the parties to come to terms where they have wished to do so, in so far as the judicial role allows. She acts as legal assessor to the British Psychological Society and has recently edited and, in part, drafted the Equality and Diversity Code for the Bar, a task which required careful analysis of potentially competing views and interests and a high degree of diplomacy. As a joint Deputy Head of her Chambers and as a member of the General Management Committee of the Bar as well as in practice, Jane has been involved in employee relations issues and in the management and resolution of grievances. She firmly believes in the benefits of dispute resolution by mediation and in the purpose of achieving resolutions which are acceptable to all parties to a dispute without the costs and risks associated with litigation. |
