Jeremy Storey has a broad commercial practice (litigation and domestic/international arbitration) which includes Professional Negligence, all aspects of Construction, Engineering and related matters and Information Technology litigation. Information Technology: Jeremy Storey has built up a special expertise in contentious and non-contentious information technology law. He acted as junior to the successful plaintiff in the milestone case of Salvage Association –v- CAP [1995] FSR 654 both before the Official Referee’s Court and the Court of Appeal. Other contentious matters include advising and representing software and hardware developers, cable installers, providers and users (e.g. major bank) on computer and information technology contract and telecom disputes. Recently instructed to defend logistics consultant against £30m professional negligence claim in TCC and to represent NATS in its ongoing £30m systems dispute with EDS in the TCC. Non-contentious matters have involved the drafting of terms and conditions for a computer software house such as sale, maintenance, pre-escrow and escrow, professional services, confidentiality and code protection agreements. He is one of only 10 Q.C.’s in Legal Business current “Directory of Legal Experts” in Information Technology. A “Leading Silk” in I.T. in Legal 500 and Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession. Judicial Experience, Arbitration, Conciliation and Mediation: Jeremy Storey sits as a part-time Judge in the Technology and Construction Court and in the Isle of Man Courts. As well as regular appearances as advocate in arbitrations, Jeremy Storey has acted as an Adjudicator and Arbitrator. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, of ADR Chambers (UK) Limited and of WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center and a qualified Mediator. He has experience of representing clients at I.T. conciliations and mediations and he has successfully mediated I.T. and Domain disputes. |
