General Information:
Since leaving the full-time bench in 2001 Harvey accepts instructions in mediations and arbitrations, usually connected with aviation or complex accident issues.

A former company director himself, he well understands the needs of business and he has a judge's long experience of understanding the human side of the problems which he solves.

As an advocate, he appeared constantly in CAA regulatory hearings and administrative procedures, at aviation inquests and inquiries and in technical arbitrations. As a solicitor handling liability investigations and claims he controlled litigation in many jurisdictions worldwide, principally for London insurers. He acted for most of the leading UK independent airlines and for major tour operators. Harvey was for 21 years the senior commercial litigation partner of a leading City of London law firm with a global practice. He brings to mediation and arbitration his experience of management in a global law firm and of air transport operation and economics as well as extensive judicial experience.

Personal
Formerly a keen rally driver in European championship events, Harvey Crush is a current private pilot and enjoys walking, skiing and boating. He is a Past Master of the City of London Solicitors' Company and a Liveryman of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators.

Languages
Working knowledge of Spanish and is a student of French.

Notable Cases
1972: Appeared for Laker Airways in its successful but contested application for a licence to operate a scheduled walk-on service London - New York: Skytrain.

1979: Appeared for Piper Aircraft Corporation in the public review of the Accident Investigations Branch's Report on an accident to an Aztec aircraft near Moffatt, Scotland, leading to the only quashing of the AIB's findings which had been adverse to manufacturers. Of the other 6 leading advocates in the case, 5 became High Court or Court of Session Judges.

1987: Appeared for successful claimant in 6-week arbitration between two national carriers M v P based on breach of engineering warranty on the sale of two airliners.
