My first career choice was a result of a longstanding passion for music and my intention was to study at the Royal Academy of Music and to become a professional player. However, a serious injury to my jaw and teeth prevented me from completing my studies and my professional trumpet-playing career was prematurely ended.
My subsequent professional career has encompassed many areas of Property matters including Valuation and Survey, Party Wall and Boundary Agreements and Disputes, Rating, Project Management, Planning and Development, Social Housing, Housing Association Expert Witness, Advocate and Arbitration representation. I have prepared Schedules of Dilapidations and Condition for leasehold property.
My experience covers commercial and residential property matters in the UK. I have travelled to Northern Ireland – valuing a portfolio of Car Dealerships, USA – residential property advice in New Jersey, Maine and Florida. In France I acted for clients on residential re-development projects as Project Manager in Angouleme, Normandy and in Switzerland advising a Director of UBS Bank on property refurbishment matters.
Arbitrations– approximately 30 undertaken since 1995 including rent review determinations, awards for compensation for unauthorised alterations at the end of a lease, awards for dilapidations, boundary dispute awards, loss of profit awards. Party Wall determinations, an award for loss of amenity land, an award against a developer for failure to comply with the terms of a Section 106 notice. I have also represented clients at many arbitrations across the breadth of commercial leasehold property transactions and negotiations.
I have represented clients throughout the UK and appeared on numerous occasions in the High Court as an expert witness. I have acted as an Arbitrator in rent review and lease renewal matters in addition to acting as advocate for both Landlord and Tenant clients.
I am a Board Director of a major Housing Association and retained advisor to a number of large Charities, Churches and landowning clients. I am retained to advise a large property group which has a number of Residential Care Homes for Autistic Children. I have acted as professional adviser to a number of major Housing Associations in the Home Counties and Midlands.
I have been retained by clients to undertake strategic planning in respect of future development sites and have negotiated options on many multi million pound schemes.
