Mediation in Practice - Expanding Your Toolkit 2
Solicitors Regulation Authority CPD (Ref: CEZ/ADRC) and Bar Standards Board CPD
This workshop is open to those who have successfully completed a recognised Mediator Training Course and is designed to build on the mediation skills already developed by participants during training and in practice.
This course is a rare chance to get up close and personal with a leading ADR practitioner, Paul Godin of the Stitt Feld Handy Group, to discuss challenges facing every mediator, including challenges and nightmare mediations from your own experience. Engage in stimulating small and large group discussions on a variety of case studies and real life challenges. Building on last year’s very successful Expanding Your Toolkit session, this course ventures further into new topics that include:
Participants will discuss ethical and practical challenges, recent developments in ADR locally and worldwide and exchange practical tips based on their own experiences, all in a friendly informal setting. Part of the agenda will be a free-flowing discussion tailored to your challenges and experiences, not just a pre-set syllabus. Everyone will have the chance not only to practice real world skills using real world examples, but to work on challenges relevant to them.
Paul Godin is the author of "Principles of Negotiation" and "A Practical Guide to Conflict Management System Design" in CHH Canada’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Manual. He has consulted with both public and private sector clients on creating ADR systems and has been a key member of bar association task forces responsible for legislation and recommendations on such topics as Commercial Mediation, Judicial Mediation, Mandatory Mediation, Employment Law Reform, and others. He is a practicing mediator and ADR consultant as well as a trainer active worldwide.
